On Wednesday, November 27, 2012 beginning at 8 a.m. the Opportunities Industrialilzation Center of Wilson, Inc. will sponsor the Quarterly Emergency Food Distribution at the organization's headquarters, 801 Reid Street East.  The following items have been confirmed:  Chicken Leg Quarter 15 lbs., Beef Stew, Pork, Green Beans, Green Peas, Pears, Cranberry Juice, Grapefruit Juice and Trail Mix.  The food will be distributed until all is given away.  Wilson Coiunty residents who are unemployed, underemployed, low income or receiving public assistance are welcome.  


During this quarter's distribution free confidential health screenings for health disparities such as, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Sexually Transmitted Diseases will be provided.  Information on Cancer, Heart Disease, Cholesterol and Weight Control will be distributed. 


OIC of Wilson offers job training and assistance to meet the needs of the community through a variety of programs. These programs consist of Adult Work Experience Training, Adult Basic Education, Job Readiness and Work Maturity Skills training opportunities, as well as, Youth Alternative Education (GED), Computer Literacy, and Vocational Skills curriculums for in-school and out of school youth. Because our mission is to serve the whole person, we address the health, nutrition, education, and employment needs of Wilson County citizens.
