City marks Independence Day this Friday
Monday, June 30, 2014
City of Wilson offices, including the customer service center and recreation centers, will be closed Friday, July 4, for Independence Day.
The customer service center will not reopen until Monday, July 7. Anyone needing to pay a bill may do so online at www.WilsonNC.org. There is also a dropbox at the customer service center on Nash Street that can be used at any time, day or night.
Customer service may be reached during business hours at 399-2200.
The holiday will affect the city’s environmental services. Trash and recycling pickups normally scheduled for Thursday, July 3, will be picked up Wednesday, and Friday's routes will be picked up Thursday. There will be no special pickups this Wednesday nor any service Friday.
Any questions about environmental services may be answered at 399-2485.
Wilson city residents can enjoy fireworks Friday evening. The Wilson Tobs will host a fireworks show above Fleming Stadium following that evening's baseball game.
The first pitch against the Morehead City Marlins will be 7:05 p.m. Friday so barring extra innings, the fireworks show should begin shortly after 9 p.m.
Many people watch the show from outside the stadium, but to catch the game and show, you can buy tickets. Call 291-TOBS or go to the box office.
The city of Wilson does not hold its own fireworks display.
