Everyone is invited to attend the dedication ceremony of the recently renovated G. K. Butterfield Train Station on Thursday, October 24 at 10 a.m. 

Former Congressman Butterfield is a Wilson native and has served as an attorney, Superior Court Judge, Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, and United States Congressman. His public service spanned a period of 33 years.

In recognition of his many years of service to Wilson, the City Council voted unanimously in February 2023 to rename the train station for Congressman Butterfield. After an extensive renovation project, the train canopy is now ready for the naming ceremony.

The ceremony will be held on Nash Street next to the train station. Several local, state and federal officials will be in attendance, and Congressman Butterfield will provide a reflection on his service.
