All boards and commissions meeting are open to the public and held in compliance with North Carolina Open Meetings Law.
During public hearings, the meeting presider will call for public comment at the appropriate time.
The City Council has a public comment period at the end of every monthly business meeting. Anyone who wishes to address the Council may do so.
The rules for addressing the Council are:
- Each speaker will be required to sign up with the City Clerk before the meeting and must provide name, address and telephone number.
- Each speaker will be limited to speaking one time on any topic.
- Each speaker will be limited to three minutes and each group’s representatives are limited to a maximum of five minutes. Groups are encouraged to designate a single spokesperson for their group.
