The 2015 N.E.W. Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan is being updated to meet FEMA Disaster Mitigation Act and North Carolina Emergency Management requirements. This plan includes all municipalities in Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson Counties and must be updated every 5 years to remain eligible for FEMA pre and post-disaster grant funding. A public kickoff meeting will begin at 5:30 PM on April 15th at the Red Oak Town Hall, 8406 Red Oak Boulevard, Red Oak, NC 27868. The public is encouraged to attend to find out details of the planning process and to provide information on the natural hazards impacting the N.E.W. Region. A public survey is also available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/NEW-HMP. A hazard mitigation planning website has been developed to provide information throughout the planning process at www.NEW-HMP.com.
