Please join us for the annual Veterans Day service on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in the plaza in front of the Wilson County Courthouse.
Vinson Bynum Elementary School's Chorus, led by Director/Music Teacher Tasha Weatherington will perform. The junior ROTCs of Beddingfield, Fike and Hunt high schools will conduct flag rituals. The National Anthem will be sung by Miss Sherry Danzy.
The event will include a POW/MIA ceremony to be performed by Deborah Deaton, vice chair of the Patriotism Committee. Committee members will lay a wreath in honor of fallen veterans.
The event will conclude with a 21-gun salute by Wilson County's Veterans' Honor Guard, followed by the playing of “Taps” by Jerry Howell, American Legion Post 13.
It will be followed by a free hotdog lunch for veterans, their families and others in the audience.
The service is free and open to the public.
