Economic Development projects add $155 million and 300 new jobs

Post Date:09/24/2024 2:27 PM

The Wilson City Council met today for a joint special meeting with Wilson County Commissioners to consider incentives for two economic development projects. The two projects will bring $155 million in investment with more than 300 new jobs.

Reckitt Benckiser Health will begin operations in the former Sandoz building in the Wilson Corporate Park, investing $145.6 million with 289 full-time jobs. Reckitt is a UK-based company with 40,000 employees worldwide. The company makes a variety of health, hygiene and nutrition products. The Wilson facility will produce Mucinex and is expected to be in operation by 2027.

“With its prominence as a life science innovation hub, North Carolina is an ideal place for Reckitt to establish its U.S. regional manufacturing center,” said Kris Licht, CEO of Reckitt. “This strategic, onshoring investment will build resiliency and agility in our supply chain and further drives our mission to create a healthier world by increasing access to important medicines.”

Neopac, an existing company in the Wilson Corporate Park, also announced a $10 million expansion with 27 new jobs. Neopac is adding a line to its existing facility. Neopac initially located in Wilson in 2018.

Both companies will benefit from employee training through the new Biologics Training Facility that was announced earlier this year. That facility will be located near the Campus at 587 in Wilson County.

Both facilities will be served by Wilson Energy.
