City of Wilson social media sites are subject to applicable North Carolina Public Records Law and can be disclosed to third parties.

Participation and Posting Guidelines

The City of Wilson has user guidelines and respectfully request that site visitors adhere to them as this is a limited public forum. The City of Wilson reserves the right to delete all comments that are not in compliance with the following guidelines:

• The purpose of our social sites are to present matters of public interest to City of Wilson residents, businesses, visitors and other interested parties.
• Once posted, the City reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any group of people because of some shared characteristic. Any comments viewed as threatening, libelous, or harassing are prohibited and subject to deletion. Further, the City also reserves the right to delete comments that contain the following:
  • Spam, advertising or links to other sites
  • Content that is clearly off topic and/or disruptive
  • The promotion of illegal activity
  • Promotions for any particular services, products, or political organizations or candidates
  • Copyrighted or trademarked material
  • Personal identifying information such as home addresses, phone numbers or personal e-mail addresses
• All comments posted on City-managed social media sites are open for public disclosure and may be retained on file.
• Postings on social media sites do not serve as formal requests for service. Any citizen needing a response from the City should call or visit the appropriate department.
