Nominate the Community Champions that have served and given back to the community within the past year. Nominate individuals, groups, youth, churches, civic groups, non-profits, businesses and neighborhoods who deserve a special "thank you". Nominations must be based on volunteer service and community contributions.

Now accepting nominations for the Community Service Award:

  • Adult Volunteers - Nominate an individual volunteer who serves others in the community and is focused on helping and improving the Wilson community.
  • Youth Volunteers - Nominate a young person (6th-12th grade) with a high level of community involvement, leadership or volunteerism. (Youth nominations will be reviewed only with those of similar age groups, not adults.)
  • Group Volunteers - Nominate a group, organization or club that serves others in the community brings about change or improves the Wilson community.
  • Volunteers Taking Initiative - Nominate a new program, established within the past 1-3 years, focused on helping disadvantaged or improving the quality of life for all citizens with continued success. 
  • Social Justice Volunteers - Nominate an individual or group that has been crucial in creating positive community responses and promoting the advancement of underrepresented groups during the past year with acts of social justice, advocacy, awareness or reconciliation to ensure fair and equal treatment of all citizens in Wilson. 
  • Civil Servant - Nominate an adult that works for city, county, government, law enforcement or emergency services that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Letter and materials submitted must demonstrate the employees' contributions to the community stretch well beyond a typical job responsibility and elevate the community.

***Reminder:

  • All award nominations must be made based on volunteer work, not employment or profession. Should the nominations overlap with employment, the nomination letter must clearly provide evidence or going above and beyond job expectations and responsibilities.
  • If the nomination is by a family member or is a self-nomination by an organization, a second letter of support is required and must be submitted by a non-family member or by someone that is not a member of the organization.
