College Bound Scholarships sponsored by the

Human Relations Office

The Human Relations Office is excited to offer three new college scholarship opportunities to local Wilson County High School students. Students may attend public, private, charter, or home school. Applications Period has ended.

The scholarships and brief description are as follows:

Humanitarian Scholarship| $500 - available to a high school senior who has demonstrated community leadership and made a difference in the Wilson area by volunteering. The student essay should demonstrate how the student has used their time, talents, and resources to help disadvantaged and oppressed citizens, made efforts to overcome obstacles and open doors to solutions, improved the quality of life, raised awareness, participated in advocacy or worked to reduce discrimination and injustice. 

Beyond DisABILITIES Scholarship| $500 - available to a high school senior with a cognitive, behavioral, physical, and/or emotional challenges. The student essay needs to describe challenges faced and demonstrate, despite these challenges, the student took measures to go above and beyond to assist others, participated in community opportunities, served as a role-model, raised awareness or pushed through barriers to achieve success. 

Wilson Youth Council Alumni Scholarship| $500 - available to current and active high school seniors who have membership  in the Wilson Youth Council (WYC). The student must have been a member of WYC for at least two full years. The student essay must demonstrate leadership through participation, volunteerism and team building. The student essay must express why and how the student went above and beyond the typical WYC standards for membership. 

*Each student essay should include why the student should be selected to receive the scholarship. 

**Scholarship applications are also available in the Human Relations Office. Winners will be  presented with a Certificate of Accomplishment during their annual end-of-year school awards ceremony. Official college registration documentation must be  provided by scholarship winners to receive scholarship funding.
