Wilson Energy purchases its natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The gas is gathered in the Gulf of Mexico, then funneled through pipes to North Carolina. We pay the Transco Pipeline and Piedmont Natural Gas a transportation fee to get the gas to Wilson.

Wilson Energy receives its natural gas from several points of delivery. The gas comes in at around 600 pounds per square inch and is regulated to about 150 psi.

From there, it travels to a regulator station near your neighborhood where the gas is regulated to 45 psi (a few lines are regulated to 75 psi). The gas enters your neighborhood at 45 psi in most cases.

A final small regulator attached to your gas meter regulates it to a usable pressure for your home.
