A permit application and a plan review fee must be submitted prior to review of all residential and commercial construction plans. To check the status of your plan review, call the Inspections Department at (252) 399-2220 - Option 3 then 1.

Inquiries regarding the building code or building inspection results should be directed to the Code Enforcement Officer at (252) 399-2220 - Option 1 then 3. 

Building Permit Expiration

All job sites must obtain the first inspection within six months of permit issuance and at least one inspection per year to maintain a valid permit.

Review Process

Both Residential and Commercial Construction plans will be assigned and reviewed in the order in which they are received by the Permit Desk at City Hall - 112 Goldsboro Street, E, Wilson, NC 27893.

 

All residential plans submitted will be assigned to a Code Enforcement Official for review. Residential plans are typically reviewed within three working days of receipt.  Please submit two sets of residential plans per project.

Certificates of Occupancy 

Certificates of Occupancy will be issued for completed sites by the Inspections Division after all applicable departments have signed off on their approval.

To change the occupancy of a commercial building, please visit and/or call (252) 399-2220 - Option 1 then 3, to speak with a Code Enforcement Official.
